UK: Boris Johnson compares EU’s aims to Hitler’s

The former London mayor and conservative MP Boris Johnson makes fresh criticism to EU.  Speaking to Sunday Telegraph, he said European history had seen repeated attempts to rediscover the “golden age of peace and prosperity under the Romans”.

“Napoleon, Hitler, various people tried this out, and it ends tragically. The EU is an attempt to do this by different methods,” he said.

“But fundamentally what is lacking is the eternal problem, which is that there is no underlying loyalty to the idea of Europe.

“There is no single authority that anybody respects or understands. That is causing this massive democratic void.”

Rejecting Johnson’s analysis, Shadow Foreign Secretary Hillary Benn said: “Leave campaigners have lost the economic argument and now they are losing their moral compass.

“To try and compare Hitler and the Nazis – the millions of people who died in the Second World War, the Holocaust – with the free democracies of Europe coming together to trade and co-operate, and in the process to help to bring peace to the continent of Europe after centuries of war, is frankly deeply offensive.”

Latest opinion polls suggest 50-50 for both sides.

Conclusion: The fierce fight goes on.

United Kingdom has along tradition of porwerful speechs listen for everyone in the world who inspires the nation. In WW2, then Prime Minister Winston Churchill said British soldiers should never surrender to nazis. On Wednesday, the Labour Shadow Foreign Secretary Hillary Benn goes to history.

He upholds the right of Britain defend itself against Daesh and its new fascism. When Benn said:

“We have a moral and practical duty to extend to Syria the acts we are now taking in Iraq,” Benn told the Commons, addressing his party directly.

“We are here faced by fascists,” he said of ISIS. “Not just their calculated brutality but their belief that they are superior to every single one of us in this Chamber tonight and all of the people that we represent. They hold us in contempt. They hold our values in contempt. They hold our belief in tolerance and decency in contempt.”

“And what we know about fascists is that they need to be defeated and it is why, as we have heard tonight, socialists and trade unionists were just one part of the international brigade in the 1930s to fight against Franco,” Benn continued.

“It’s why this entire House stood up against Hitler and Mussolini. It’s why our party has always stood up against the denial of human rights and for justice and my view, Mr. Speaker, is that we must now confront this evil. It is now time for us to do our bit in Syria, and that is why I ask my colleagues to vote in favor of this motion tonight.”

The history was made by single speech which represents the thaughts of civilized world against brutality. Benn broke up with anti-war position uphold by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. The Shadow Foreign Secretary was recognised by Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond for the one of the greatest speeches on British history.

The maverick act of Hillary remembers his father, Tony Benn, who makes historical speeches on Labour conference and upheld his principles despite party policies. Hillary speaking of the world by a simple message of defiance against facism made by ISIS across the globe for their terrorism acts.

It’s a tough message againts terrorism. Many papers has put Benn’s speech on its front-page of tomorrow edition. The words spoken by Hillary made us strenghten togetter against terror and their threats. The brutality of ISIS or Daesh lost by a single defiance speech made by Hillary Benn.
